Reginald F. Lewis was a pioneering African American businessman and philanthropist, best known for his success in the business world and his role in breaking barriers for Black entrepreneurs. He became one of the wealthiest African Americans in the 1980s and made history with his acquisition of Beatrice International Food, a multinational corporation, which he purchased for $985 million in 1987. This acquisition was a landmark moment in business, as it made him the first African American to own a company with over $1 billion in revenue.
In addition to his business success, Lewis was also a philanthropist. He donated millions to institutions like Harvard Law School, where he earned his law degree, and various African American organizations and causes. He believed in the importance of supporting education and creating opportunities for other African Americans.
Lewis’s legacy was one of breaking down barriers for African Americans in the business world, inspiring future generations to pursue entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. His success also demonstrated that African Americans could thrive in industries that were historically inaccessible to them.
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture is located in Baltimore, Maryland. It’s a significant cultural institution dedicated to showcasing the history, culture, and achievements of African Americans, with a particular emphasis on the contributions of African Americans in Maryland.

Rich Paul is a powerful sports agent and the founder of Klutch Sports Group, where he represents some of the biggest names in the NBA, including LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Draymond Green.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Paul grew up in a tough neighborhood but had a passion for business and sports. His big break came when he met LeBron James in 2002, selling vintage jerseys out of his car. The two became close friends, and LeBron later hired Paul to be part of his management team. Paul then built his own sports agency, changing the game by negotiating record-breaking contracts and giving athletes more control over their careers.
He is also known for challenging the NCAA’s "Rich Paul Rule", which originally tried to stop agents without a college degree from representing players. Paul’s success has made him one of the most influential figures in sports business today.

Bass Reeves was one of the most legendary lawmen in American history. Born into slavery in Arkansas, he gained his freedom during the Civil War and later became the first Black deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River. Before becoming a U.S. Marshal, Reeves escaped slavery and lived among several Native American tribes in what is now Oklahoma, learning their languages and survival skills. Like many cowboys of his time, he rode horses, carried a gun, and tracked outlaws across the Wild West. He was known for his expert marksmanship and ability to navigate tough terrain, which helped him become one of the most successful lawmen in history.
As a lawman, Reeves was fearless, skilled, and respected--capturing up to 4,000 criminals in his 32-year career. He was an expert horseman and sharpshooter, often outsmarting outlaws by using disguises and tracking skills. Despite facing racism, he enforced the law fairly and never got injured in a gunfight.
While he wasn’t a cowboy in the traditional sense of herding cattle, he lived the cowboy lifestyle—riding the open plains, facing danger, and maintaining law and order. Many historians believe that Reeves’ life inspired the fictional Lone Ranger character because of his daring arrests, his use of disguises, and his dedication to justice.

The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), founded in 1909, advocates for civil rights and combats racial discrimination against African Americans. Its primary purposes include challenging discriminatory laws through legal action, protecting the voting rights of African Americans, promoting discussions on racial issues, and advocating for economic empowerment through fair labor practices and equal job opportunities.
The NAACP has made significant legal achievements, including landmark cases like Brown v. Board of Education, which ended school segregation. Additionally, it has played a crucial role in advocating for fair treatment of African American workers and encouraging grassroots organizing for social justice. By increasing voter turnout and political representation among African Americans, the NAACP has had a profound impact on advancing civil rights, improving labor conditions, and promoting social justice, continuing to influence the fight for equality today.
