Computer Science Award Badge

Berlin, MD 10/25/23- Buckingham Elementary School was recently announced as a winner of the CS100 “All-In” Award for our commitment to K-5 Computer Science Education! The award is presented by CS is Elementary, a non-profit whose mission is to help accelerate K-5 coding and computer science education, at school and at home.

The "All-In" CS100 Award is a national recognition that acknowledges elementary schools across the country for their efforts in aligning instruction to meet state or district standards for computer science education.

This award can be attributed to the exceptional dedication of our Media Specialist, Mrs. Caitlin Bunting, on working with our students to teach computer science education.

Students in K-4 explore computer science through coding and debugging programs such as Scratch Jr., Code.org, Lego Robotics, 3D printing and more.  All students are also taught digital citizenship lessons focused on internet safety, cyberbullying and privacy and security.

At BES, all students have access to their own iPad as part of our district 1:1 initiative. The devices provide students with numerous resources that align to educational standards and provide supplemental programs to instruction.
