Newark, MD, January 11, 2024– Snow Hill Middle School Library/Media Specialist and Gifted and Talented (GT) Teacher Beau Williams was honored by the Maryland Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education (MACGT) for demonstrating excellence in his profession.
Williams recently received the Teacher Accomplishment in Gifted and Talented Education Award from MACGT for the 2023-2024 school year. The award recognizes Williams’ dedication to providing quality advanced instruction for students, including his collaborative work to write GT curriculum as well as designing and implementing new and innovative programs.
Programs Williams has brought to the middle school include the Young Author’s Contest, STEM-based projects such as the Sphero Global Challenge, and an upcoming project funded by the Sherlock Holmes Beacon Society that will study the impact of detective novels in criminology.
"Mr. Williams is an educator and innovator,” says Snow Hill Middle School principal Matthew Record. “The connections to standards-based learning opportunities and real-life applications are seamless under his direction. By building an environment of creativity and kindness, Mr. Williams’ students are fully engaged and excited about learning. They are better because he was their teacher."
