Board of Education News

Newark, MD, May 16, 2023– At today’s Worcester County Board of Education meeting, several school-based administrative appointments and transfers were announced. The new assignments are effective July 1, 2023.

Following a series of administrative announcements at the April Board of Education meeting, today the Board of Education approved the following to complete the school leadership announcements for the upcoming school year:

  • Quinn Swain, who is new to Worcester County, has been appointed Assistant Principal at Buckingham Elementary School. Swain brings 23 years of experience to the role, most recently serving as principal at Quarterfield Elementary School in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
  • Lauren McGinnis has been appointed to serve as Assistant Principal at Snow Hill High School, replacing Jonathan Kehl, who will return to the classroom at his request. McGinnis began her career in education here in Worcester County in 1997; she has most recently served as Curriculum Resource Teacher at Berlin Intermediate School.
  • Pocomoke High School Assistant Principal Matthew Hoffman will transfer to Pocomoke Elementary School, replacing Faye Williams, whose retirement was previously announced.
  • Kristin Cashman was appointed to the Assistant Principalship at Pocomoke High School, filling Hoffman’s role. Cashman brings over 18 years of teaching experience to the role; she has also been named a county Teacher of the Year for both Worcester and Wicomico counties during her tenure with each.

“We are very excited to announce this next wave of appointments and transfers, which round out the leadership teams at our schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Lou Taylor. “These changes coupled with last month’s announcements will create building-level leadership teams that will not only continue the successes we are experiencing in our schools, but also push them forward in bold and creative ways. I look forward to seeing these teams in action in the next year.”
