Pocomoke High School’s Academy 100 Afterschool program began a partnership with Delmarva Discovery Center to begin an afterschool Archery Club. The DDC provided twelve Genesis compound bows, arrows, targets and a safety net. The club is being taught by Mr. Abell of Sea Hawk Sports in Pocomoke, who also added sights and other supportive components to the bows. His knowledge and expertise, coupled with instruction from PHS staff members, Mr. Bill Williams and Mr. Eduardo Nagy, allows students to learn the basics of archery. Students are enjoying the new skill and interest in the club is increasing.

PHS’s Academy 100 Afterschool program is funded through 21stCentury Community Learning Centers grants. You can support local afterschool programs like this through volunteerism, advocacy and in-kind donations.
