Pocomoke Elementary School and Snow Hill Middle School were each recipients of $1,750 TangerKIDS grants from Tanger Outlets Ocean City. In both schools, the grant will be used in the area of technology.

PES plans on purchasing iPads for students in Kindergarten and First Grade to supplement classroom instruction with technology-assisted instruction. "Our school is in the midst of digital conversion," said Special Education Teacher Beverly Watson, "and this grant will allow us to extend technology-infused instruction to our younger students. The grant is getting us started."

SHMS will be leasing computer tablets that come equipped with 4G wireless capability. "Many of our children live in rural areas where home Internet is not even an option," said Principal Chris Welch. "The tablets will allow our seventh graders to sign out a tablet in order to complete required online mathematics homework for our curriculum. The experience will also help prepare them for eighth grade."

TangerKIDS grants are funded by coupon book sales at Tanger Outlets. According to Tanger, one dollar from every coupon-book sold is used to fund the TangerKIDS Grants program.
