Teacher Advisory Meetings

Teacher Advisory Meetings
Posted on 05/19/2014

The Superintendent of Schools met with the 2014 cohort of Teacher of the Year (TOY) candidates. The purpose of the advisory committees was to hear candid thoughts around a variety of topics including the Common Core, PARCC assessments, Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), and technology integration. As the school system seeks to strengthen communications and progress associated with our Strategic Direction, feedback gleaned from the advisory meetings will be considered. Teachers of the Year were selected to participate since they have been selected to be ambassadors of their school through the Teacher of the Year Program.

The first advisory meeting was held on Friday, May 16 at Pocomoke High School and included Lisa Ballance (Pocomoke Elementary), William Buchanan (Pocomoke High), Kim Cummings (Pocomoke Middle), Tracy Hunter (Worcester Technical High); Mary Lankford (Cedar Chapel Special School), Dawn Stutzel (Snow Hill Elementary), Traci Record (Snow Hill High), and Kim Stephens (Snow Hill Middle). The northern advisory meeting was held at Stephen Decatur High on Monday, May 19 and included Alyson Brabitz (Showell Elementary), Amy Fenzel-Mergott (Stephen Decatur High), 2014 Worcester County Teacher of the Year Brenna Johnson (Stephen Decatur Middle), Windy Phillips (Ocean City Elementary), and Ramona Smith (Buckingham Elementary). (Berlin Intermediate's Victor Hall was unable to participate.)
