Students Learn Genre at Book Tasting

Berlin Intermediate School students in Mrs. McDowell’s 6th grade ELA class learned about different genres of books during a “Book Tasting.”  When the students entered the room the classroom was set up like a café with tables of books.  Each table had a different genre of books. Students traveled to the different tables and “tasted” the books by reading the back, looking at a few pages in the book, and the title to help them understand why each book fit in that particular genre.  The students were served snacks during their “Book Tasting” and listened to “café” music while they worked.  Sandy Aldana-Almaguer, Ashley Abu-Zaid, and Kaeli Newcomb are pictured “tasting” their books.
