Pocomoke Elementary School students, young "Braves", responded generously to victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. PES's Kiwanis Kids (K-Kids) organization is an afterschool, student-led academy and is one of many offered to students through the College, Career and Assessment Readiness for Everyone (CARE) Afterschool Program.

Second and third grade K-Kids launched a community coin drive throughout the month of October. Enlisting the help of community-based Hall Realty, teachers, administration and parents, the school's total storm victim contribution was an overwhelming $1,275.

Additional charitable endeavors have included the "Just Zoo It" Campaign, collecting funds for the Delmarva Zoological Society and collecting food for the Maryland Food Bank.

Pocomoke Elementary is grateful for the support and generosity of its teachers, students, parents, and community members.

The program is funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. You can support local afterschool programs like this through volunteerism, advocacy and in-kind donations.
