The BES K-Kids is an elementary school service organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Students from the fourth grade are invited to participate in the club, during the afterschool program. The K-Kids serve our school and local community as well as support other programs. UNICEF, American Cancer Society and our school's gardens are some of our past projects. Tremendous support is given by the local Berlin and Ocean City Kiwanis Clubs in all of our endeavors.

For BES's second afterschool session, they had 8 fantastic fourth graders participate in the club. Advisor, Mrs. Betsy Williams, is a fantastic leader and enjoys working with these future leaders. In first session, the K-Kids organized a "Book Drive" to collect books for the new Berlin library. The students made fliers and posters to advertise the service project. They are looking to expand this club of future leaders for BES's third afterschool session.

K-Kids Objectives

1. To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community
2. To develop leadership potential
3. To foster and develop strong moral character
4. To encourage loyalty to school rules and be able to uphold the K Kids pledge

K-Kids Pledge
As a K-Kid, I promise to serve my school and neighborhood. I will show respect towards my environment and I will try and make the world a better place in which I live

The afterschool program is funded through a 21st CCLC grant. You can support your local afterschool programs like this through volunteerism, advocacy and in-kind donations.
