In 2018, a committee of stakeholders created calendar proposals for the 2019-2020 school year. During January 2019, input on calendar preferences was collected from parents, staff, and students. Survey results were presented to the Superintendent of Schools later that month. Mr. Taylor considered survey results when recommending the Superintendent's Proposed 2019-2020 Calendar to the Board of Education at its February 19, 2019, meeting.

IMPORTANT CHANGES for the 2019-2020 Calendar:

Please note the change to our inclement weather day structure. We have identified June 16-22, 2020 as our inclement weather days, rather than building days within the Labor Day - June 15 calendar. As such, any closure for inclement weather during the 2019-2020 school year will automatically result in extending the school year.

For example, if we are closed for two days in February 2020, the last day of school (and high school exams) will automatically be shifted back to June 17. This occurs, as necessary, for up to five days.

If no inclement weather days are utilized, the last day of school will remain at June 15. If inclement weather days go beyond the five identified days, further modifications - likely during the week of April 6 - will be required in order to request a waiver from the State.

This new approach was taken to satisfy our stakeholders' overwhelming requests to better address winter and spring breaks in next year's calendar.
