January 2, 2021 - Responsible Return Update
Posted on 01/02/2021

Good evening, families,

This is your Superintendent Lou Taylor. First, I apologize immensely for the contents of this message as it is a change to the messaging that we sent out on Tuesday, December 29.   I hope that you understand that it is unavoidable.

While we were planning on a return to in-person instruction for small groups of students on Monday, the Worcester County Health Department has requested that we return instead with students engaged in distance learning on January 4.  Therefore, all Worcester County Public Schools will remain in distance learning for the week of January 4-8.  We will continue to assess all health and safety information throughout the next week and, as I indicated in my prior message, I will communicate with you and our families on or before Friday, January 8.

We understand that this decision creates challenges for many of our families.  Please know that decisions like this are not taken lightly.  But there is something you can do. In order for us to successfully reopen for in-person instruction, we implore all of our students, staff, and their families to be safe in the community. Wear your masks, maintain a safe physical distance at all times, be sure to stay home when sick, and see a medical provider if you experience any symptoms of COVID-19.

Good night and may God bless you always,

Lou Taylor

Superintendent of Schools
